My jewellery is inspired by beauty in decay, everyday textures and patterns found in both the urban and natural environment. From moss growing on bricks, rust on canal quay chains and barnacles on coastal rocks. I live in Manchester, but desperately want to live by the sea. So coastal forms, such as seaweed and beach pebbles inspire my designs. I love to explore the passing of time, growth and the aging process and somehow inject this into the Jewellery I make
I trained as a fine artist/painter, but in my 40s did a 1 year Jewellery course and I fell in love with Jewellery making. I like to experiment with materials & processes, combining traditional & contemporary techniques from crochet to silversmithing. I’m currently exploring the technique of torch & kiln fired vitreous enamel. Painting with glass powder on metal, allows be to bring the painter to my jewellery making and play with creating patinas and surface textures on to the metal surface.
As a curvier, older woman, I want to make jewellery that reflects life, getting older and accepting life’s changes and seasons. I make one of a kind wearable art, that is as unique as the wearer. Every piece is handmade and an original design. My jewellery celebrates the world around us and ideally the person that wears the piece. I hope the wearer develops a connection to the Jewellery they choose and that it reflects their individuality, strength, beauty and a love of nature, the coast and cities that surround us.
My ranges included, earrings, neck pieces, brooches and rings. Prices from £20 - £150.
