I'm Clare Morgan, a fine art printmaker based in Derby. I create empowering portraits using linocut that encourages reflection, empathy and calm. Artwork can remind you of a time in your life, someone special or a feeling, drawing us in.

Each piece is original and is always limited edition. Created with rich oil-based colour that works in harmony with thin Japanese paper, the prints are fragile yet strong; and surprisingly tactile, a joy to unwrap. I love leaving evidence of the process, marks of carved lino create life and energy.

I studied fine art and then went into teaching but as my career progressed my art started to take a back seat. In 2016 I was diagnosed with blood cancer which led to a life-saving stem cell transplant and some re-evaluation.

My current practice was born out of this experience, each piece started as a reminder for myself as I tried to hold onto my own lessons, but over time I learnt that it is a powerful way to encourage and connect with others. I want to share work with you that celebrates strength and vulnerability, acknowledging that everything is impermanent, imperfect and incomplete and that is beautiful.
