Dotty Black

Indie Biz ownerEbony Newton

Dotty Black is a home run independent business which celebrates the joyful journey of parenthood. Aimed at children and families, Dotty Black is full of bright and bold cards, gifts and prints, all inspired from honest and authentic experiences of parenthood.

Founded by me... Ebony Newton, a gifting and greetings designer of 17 years. Dotty (because I have and unhealthy obsession with dots) and Black (because of my name Ebony), I set away with this idea as a business to explore my own personal design style, unlocking ideas that had been stuck in my head for way too long. Dotty Black sells cards, prints and gifts for little people, inspired by my own children and my journey into parenthood. The shop came on the back of continuously being unable to find certain products for my kids out in the marketplace. I figured if I couldn’t find what I was looking for, then I might not be alone.

All my products are designed from scratch, including the hand lettering I use on my products. I care very much about creating sustainable products from wood, paper, ceramic and card only. I try where possible to reduce my use of single use plastics in my packaging, and use compostable and biodegradable alternatives where it is not as possible to do so.

I promote positivity through my products, including celebrating our differences, adding personality to parenthood.
